Not sure what you mean, Jan?  When I am online, I pick my favorite browser (lately that is Chrome) and surf from there.  If I change browsers it's because I choose to for some reason.  Is something else going on in your system?

Do you have to go into PROPERTIES, each time, to chg. your browser, because that's what I've been doing, as it doesn't stay there, as the next time I turn my computer on, it's back to the way it was before! Is that normal? Or, am I not doing the procedure correctly? Thanks for jumping in, with this! Jan

I have a feeling I have my laptop set up differently than you have yours set up...I can't exactly picture what you mean.  I have windows 7 and when I go onto my laptop desktop, I click on the icon for the browser I want...I happen to have both chrome and internet explorer.  I almost always click on chrome because it's my favorite.  I have explorer as a backup if I am having problems getting to websites on chrome for any reason.  I do this same thing on my ipod and ipad if I want to use chrome rather than safari.
Which browser would you like to be using?
I think there is something about having a default browser, but I don't run into any problems with that...anyone else reading this and  can chime in and figure this out?
In case you do mean the default browser thing, here are a couple of links about how to change setting to make IE or chrome your default browser:
