Now don't say you aren't cause you are.

I cannot connect to Steam or Whatbox during DAPPed usage or during free time.

I've contacted both and it's not on their end and other sites load fine, SO STOP IT.

FFS I PAY FOR INTERNET, NOT A NANNY

Hello Variable Zero,

We recently had an update to our system that affected some plans. Over the years, content providers changed their delivery methods which made it difficult to distinguish streaming when reporting usage.  For some customers. prior to this upgrade, our software incorrectly distinguished streaming media as web browsing. This update now better distinguishes it and if you've gone over your data you may have trouble visiting such sites as youtube, Facebook Video, Steam etc. If you have any further questions or concerns please give us a call at 866.945.3258

Stop removing my comments. People need to see the trickery here. Its not a FREE zone if you block connections. And yes I've contacted support. Nothing.

Variable, our forum policies point out that we can change topic titles to better support searchability in our forums AND we reserve the right to remove or close comments or threads as we see fit. This forum exists to help customers and we moderate it in order to make that the case. In short it's an Exede-ran forum, so we run it and moderate it. See our post here:

I wrote the same complaint as you Zero.  Many similar complaints have been made by other customers.  They aren't going to change anything.  I wish they would be clear and say it like it really is.  "You may have trouble visiting sites as youtube, facebook video, steam, ets" actually means you are blocked.  Want to use those sites again during DAPPed?  Pay more and buy more data.

It is a well know fact that Steve is a computer Bot.

He has just recently been updated to a Russet potato power source, so we should be getting a lot better data from him/it.

I get more than a little ticked off at the hypocrisy, smoothed-over lies, denial of the real situation, and lack of accountability ViaSat indulges in.  I see mods giving boiler-plate answers that resolve nothing. The residential customers form the financial backbone of ViaSat, we are their credit rating and yet get treated like so much garbage.  We trusted exede to deliver a data product and have a reasonable expectation that service will be as indicated.  exede says they have NO responsibility to deliver decent speed but can we say there's not enough money right now, there's financial congestion so we won't be paying full price this month?  exede gets paid, we get cheated. The data we purchased and commited to pay with service contracts is being re-sold to the highest bidder. See how exede panicked when they saw the customers on the evolution plan were getting what they paid for.  exede can't afford the bandwidth, the airlines may suffer so they figured out a way to stop that drip at the faucet.  When things dry out a bit here so concrete can be poured, a tower is going up to give me a view of another company that actually has integrity.  It's a bit of an expense to reach over to the Santa Cruz mountains, but will be well worth it.

Knock me all you like but you're the one's getting ripped-off daily(and seem quite ok with that).

"The residential customers form the financial backbone of ViaSat, we are their credit rating"

I think this statement needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

As does this one:

"The data we purchased and commited to pay with service contracts is being re-sold to the highest bidder."

The only "funny" that I see here is in respect to the recent changes in the way data is counted in the Evolution plan.

Everyone contracts for a monthly block of data and with the possible exception of some data calculations they get it.

Every company has to diversify to one degree or another. The amount of revenue generated by residential customers is just not sufficient to provide satellite internet service at a price point that most users could afford. At $500 million or more for a satellite plus launch costs and ground side infrastructure there is now way to provide service at around a $100 per month without commercial/enterprise and military accounts subsidizing residential users.

So you're saying we are too stupid to know better.  There is a simpler and more logical reason we are ok with that.  The vast majority of customers are happy with Exede.  I know you can't except that but it has to be true for this company to survive and pour hundreds of millions of dollars into it and for commercial airlines and the military to hire Exede to provide internet service.  I guess we are all too stupid to know what you know.

No the vast majority of exede customers have no choice but to pay exorbitant prices for terrible service because they have no other options.
