I believe I am being throttled for no reason. My Internet was slow (no surprise there) first screenshot. So I reset my router, left it unplugged for about 8 mins. Plugged it back in and the speeds were great, second screenshot. Now my speeds are crap again, third screenshot. What the heck??!

Power cycling your modem often causes you to have better speeds.   It may be due to being put on the most open "lane" within your beam when you first start your modem, or after a restart, and after time this lane fills, slowing your speed down again.

Your speed slowing may very well be as a result of this, but it's a form of load leveling.  It's not meant to deliberately throttle you.

With this said, I'm not very familiar with ViaSat's technology and if it works this way with them, so what I mention above is only a possibility until someone confirms or denies it.  I don't have ViaSat, myself.

That's makes sense and all, I just don't get why I see the same speed almost all the time. It's always .96 or .97 or .98 . Very odd. What would you do Gabe?

Probably just what you're doing.  Unfortunately, though, I don't know that it will get any better.  It appears to be due to considerable congestion.  :(

Etahn, all of those tests were done on a cell phone, connected via WiFi. If you have the older wifi modem, the black one, then some of those do have an issue with wifi being far slower than Ethernet speeds. My own being one of them. Please run the same test on a computer hard wired to the modem, see if there is a marked difference.

EEK!  Satellite 101.  I should have noticed that.  I must be slipping in my old age.  :)

I've been down this road before, but I'll hook up my laptop and post the results. Give me a few mins. What I'm getting at is how can I have download speeds of over 16mbps and then boom not much later it's back under 1mbps. Makes no sense.
