Steve, so what happened to the Steam Throttled thread while I was away? Somebody blow a gasket? Was it something I said or just the run of the mill hockey fight?

No real issues, Robert, but it can be a data hog more so than prior versions of Windows 7 or below). It runs perfectly fine (actually quite responsive I find despite the dramatic change in user interface behavior) and you need to take some added precautions if on one of the limited Exede data plans being full fledged Windows all of the other suggestions in the thread Steve mentions also apply. Data usage is always an issue regardless of operating system and when using Exede expet possibly for those on the Freedom Plan   - but there are enough experiences here to get that usage under control.

Also be sure to check the link at the end of that last post (currently) or specifically:

For best data conservation with Windows 8.1, turn off the live tiles, log on as a local user, and minimize your usage of Windows cloud storage.

No problems at all with Windows 8.1 and Exede as my computer can prove. However, you should set your connection to METERED SERVICE to prevent Win 8.1 form gobbling up data needlessly. (makes about a 1.5 to 3 GB per month difference depending on what apps you have installed and,  pinned to Start.)

If you have Norton, it will also go into economy mode on metered service, thus saving even more of your data for what you want to use it for.
