Anyone else victim of "bait and switch"? Let me know if you are interested in starting a Class Action against Exede? 25gb there highest plan is not enough data to do whatever you want or need to do with wifi. This is what people are being told when they call about signing up.

Bait and switch is exactly what happened to me. When I called about their service nothing was mentioned about data limits. When I asked the installer about it he assured me that only if I were a "gamer; would I be affected by the limit. I enjoyed Netflix with my old provider which was slower but with no limits, I then find out 3 Netflix movies will "EXEDE" my 10 gig limit,  What a RIP OFF I am counting the days until my contract is up so I can be rid of this con job they call an internet provider.
I dont know why an State attourney General has hit this Company with a fraud lawsuit.            Until then I will post on any community board I can find and try to save one unwitting fool like myself from being scammed by this sham of a company.

I am in the same boat. Use all my data in three days. Was told that would last me a month for what I wanted to do. Class action sounds right to me. Tvaillancourt23@yahoo.com

Read your contract. You have agreed to arbitration before you can take any legal action. Also, don't blame others for you being gullible. Sales people lie. That is a sad fact but very true in this day and age. Consumers must take some responsibility for doing some research before making expensive commitments. You probably would have a difficult time ever proving anyone lied to you or misled you.

No difficulty. Conversations are recorded and, my issues with this company are well documented. Who are you to say that I did NO research? So if companies lie all the time and according to you we should just accept that? Wow.

I am an Elite Dealer for Exede.  As I tell everyone on these blogs, ALWAYS call a LOCAL dealer for Internet or TV.  When you get a flyer or something in the mail more than likely it is NOT coming from Exede, rather a MARKETING COMPANY, who just cares about making a sale.

EXEDE is NOT the one's who have misled you, it was the sales partner.  Quite the contrary, Exede has EVERYTHING about their service laid on their direct web site at www.exede.com, This service is designed for people who live in the country and do NOT have access to cable or any other form of high speed.  This service is NOT made to stream videos 24/7, just like your cell phone plans, there is a data cap.  It is NOT a replacement for cable or other high speed service you may have......yet.  With the technological advances in satellite technology and data compression, the day is just right around the corner when you can do what you want without worrying.
In the meantime, I would strongly encourage you to check out the Evolution Plan if it is available in your area, it has solved all of our customers issues once they switched.

Again, ALWAYS go to www.exede.com and click on the find a local dealer link and CALL THEM!  We your LOCAL dealer are here and ready to serve YOU, but YOU have to call US!

Good job David . . . and very true. Many of the people who complain on here want to blame others for their gullibility. As dealers we walk a tight rope. I know I have scared people away by being very careful with disclosures to explain data limits, latency, etc. But I can honestly say that at least 90% of those who have got Exede from me are EXTREMELY happy with the product. I have a couple of customers who switched from cable to Exede even after I tried to talk them out of it. They were so upset with Charter's service they made the switch anyway and are both very pleased with it. (Of course they are not big data users.)

Well, 25 GB might not be enough of you want to use your computer for a TV and movie theater and, want to download games and updates durring the day but, otherwise, it is enough to game, surf, use email at will and, even watch some short videos and download a few audio books and, that is for 4 devices.

Who said anything about using a computer as a tv? And the whole point of just about everyone's complaint is that what they were told at sign up is NOT what we got. Your list of what you think 25gb is enough for is completely wrong. Not one person is complaining about lack of gaming ability either. But, we did pay our tv show provider for services such as On Demand and video/movie viewing in HD based on what were promised Exede can do,

Please go back and reread all the related conversations. You' ll find that what you say we are able to do, does not seem to be the case.

I have to take some blame , you know what they say buyer beware. Had I googled the term "Exede Sucks"  it will turn up countless complaints like ours. I just believed them when they said it was adequate for what I used they internet for.

IMHO, if you did not look it up and see what 1GB would allow you to do, knowing it was a limited bandwidth service (or use the tool Excede provides here http://www.exede-sales.com/selector.html ) then it was your mistake. The same limitations apply to ANY metered bandwidth internet service.

OMG! We are not satellite internet techs! How in the world would we know that, and why in the world would we not believe what the "experts" told is about THEIR service? You have no idea what any of us are getting at. Spare me

Mandy,
No doubt the tech jargon can be confusing at times. We have many research tools available to customers before and after they sign up on our website. If you have any questions or need anything explained and cleared up, please feel free to send me an email to exedelistens@viasat.com and we can discuss these issues. Thank you.

The razzle dazzle is continuous. We have signed up for exede internet. The term limited bandwidth is an understatement and their free zone does not start until 12:30 to 4:30. Unless your on their progressive 3:00 to 8:00 plan. Neither one is feasible for anyone unless they are a night owl or going to high school. I have been counting down the days until I move to a location where these guys are not the only internet provider, or until they change plan to something more reasonable for their consumers. This company is sister to wild-blue. Wild-blue is known for its overage fees, excessive abuse of data and contracts. If there was something like charter available believe me I would have switched a long a time ago. I am a techno junky and know their terms but unfortunately until their monopoly is ended I am stuck with them. Unfortunately, there is no room for legal matters to be pursued as any judge will tell you ignorance is no excuse of justification for a lawsuit. Otherwise I have filed just shortly after I started with this company.

Exede is not a sister to Wild Blue.  ViaSat the maker of the equipment for Wild Blue purchased the company and then built Exede from the ground up to the satellite.  The only associations are some back office systems that have nothing to do with the speed or service.

You must have one of the toughest jobs in the world, trying to justify your companies business model. One thing is certain, new technology will come along sooner rather than later and leave your companies expensive satellite just one more piece of space debris. I look forward to that day.

To set the record straight, the satellite Exede's service runs off of, VIASAT1, is the largest, most technologically advanced, and fastest satellite in orbit.  Don't take my word for it, check with Guinness Book of World Records or the Federal Communications Commission.  VIASAT2 being built now will shatter this record.  It is a matter of court record that ViaSat won a case where some other well named companies stole our technology to build their satellite.

Again, had everyone on here taken a few minutes longer to look up your LOCAL Dealer, we would have given you the correct information and you would be a happy customer now.  Instead you called a marketing company who probably sells multiple products and from my experience their agents don't know one product from another.  One call they may be selling cable internet and the next satellite internet.

Except it isn't bait and switch. You were told you would get x GB of bandwidth for x price and, you got just that. You can use it for all of the things you mentioned, the issue is how much of those things you can do for with the bandwidth you purchased and, that is under the  "ignorance is no excuse" heading.

No if they had sold you unlimited usage for 130.00 and, you got 25 GB usage, that would be bait and switch and, that would be on the installer since Viasat clearly offers no such package.

I am so upset right now that I do not know where to begin, but I would like to at least appeal to those of you who have not signed up for Exede yet, but are looking for an internet provider...

PLEASE DO NOT SIGN WITH THIS COMPANY.

I HAVE HAD REPEATED problems with this company, to which I received HORRIBLE customer service while trying to resolve those problems.

Their data usage limits were NOT outlined to us up front during the install, as I would have NEVER gone with it.

Again, I plead... DO NOT sign with EXEDE.

I am COUNTING the days until we can cancel with them. Until then, I am vowing to repeat this message ANYWHERE I can!!!

Exede... well, just take it from their misspelled name... they certainly won't exceed any of your expectations! I'd rather go back to dial-up than deal with them for one more day!!

www.exede.com is there 24/7 with everything and more, including their data policy.  I am sorry you are having problems with our customer service.  Please send me an email with your name, phone, and Exede account number and I will see what I can do for you.
As I have previously stated as well all over these blogs, ALWAYS call or seek out your LOCAL dealer, easily found under the find a local dealer tab.  We LOCAL dealers go out of the way to help our customers make the best choice, and sometimes when cable or fiber is available, our product is NOT the right choice if they are a heavy user.
As an Elite Dealer, I take pride in the awesome product and service that we provide to customers who have nothing available.  Right now I am writing this while on vacation using a 4G hot spot and I am ready to pull my hair out because it is so slow compared to my Exede at home.
Shot me an email with what all has happened and I will personally see that your problems get taken care of.  david@lakecountrysat.com

David Varner the Elite Dealer for Exede writes "Exede didn't mislead you their "sales partner" did.
If I have a partner in business that is doing something wrong or misleading then I would immediately severe ties with that "Partner".  It's always nice to have a scapegoat to blame for a business model that takes advantage of peoples lack of knowledge of bandwidth. Always emphasizing their blazing speed never highlighting how fast it will take burn up your allotment. Remember they are marketing this to people in rural areas that probably dont know the correct questions to ask.  Just sign on the dotted line.....gotcha...call us in 2 years when you want the equipment picked up.

Not sure why you think Exede's business model is out to get people.  And yes, they do and have terminated sales partners who are not up to par.  That's why I strongly state that to get the BEST service call a LOCAL dealer.  We are not going to steer you wrong.  I am an Elite Dealer for Exede and I know the Executives personally, they are just as passionate about their product as I am, no smoke and mirrors going on.  The product genuinely works.  Now if you are using it in the place of a TV entertainment subscription, then yes, you are going to have problems.  The ultimate goal of the company is to get to unlimited data.  People smarter than us are working hard everyday trying to come up with new technology to make that happen.  ViaSat is a cutting edge company with the most powerful satellite in orbit.

I am sorry you are not happy, but you also need to take a little responsibility, all of your complaints about their service and data policy is clearly spelled out at exede.com not hidden from your view until you signed on the dotted line, but clearly there and available to you before you made the decision.  If you switched from an unlimited service like cable, then I can see why you are not happy.

Send me an email with your Exede account number, name, and phone number and I will personally make sure your issues are resolved.  david@lakecountrysat.com

They will send you a box and a pre-paid shipping label.  If you would like to have it de-installed for you, they can also arrange a service call at your expense to come out and take it down.  This is common practice with EVERY satellite carrier, Hughes, Directv, Dish, and Exede.  Again, this is an industry standard.

And, just an FYI, it isn't just Viasat dealers that can be misleading, HughesNet dealers do it too. My ex son in law got Hughes and was told he had unlimited service at 12mbs. He got a rude awakening when he ran out of data after 2 weeks. HugesNet did nothing wrong, the dealer was the one in error.

I that is also the case with a few less than scrupulous ViaSat dealers who just want the sale and don't care what happens after that.

There are also some really good dealers out there the, like David do disclose everything, even the negatives, upfront so you know what yoju are getting before you have it installed.

I initially got WildBlue years ago, I went directly to ViaSat and was told everything before they even looked for an installer that could service my home. I had never had metered service before and, of course was pretty clueless as to what used how much data over the internet. I went over the first month, upped my plan to get more and, set about learning what used how much data and, paying attention to what I downloaded when so I could keep track of the rolling 30 day totals I had then.

Exede is much easier, it resets my usage monthly so, I don't have to have a log book to track for 30 days.

Yes, it's a learning curve, a very small one since it takes less than 5 minutes to find a usage calculator online that will tell you what you can do with the GB you have, then just keep track of what you (and anyone using your connection) does online and, you know where the data is going and, know if there is a discrepency you need to sort out or have ViaSat help you sort out.
