Anyone else having trouble with late night free zone last few days? (over christmas week)

Last 3 or so days my late night free zone doesn't seem to have any better speeds than restriction. It is christmas week and maybe lots of people on right now, but could there be a problem? Exede is now only offering the new plan with no free zone in my area and that makes me wonder if there is something going on behind the scene. If maybe they are going to switch me to the other plan whether I like it or not. Is anyone else out there having this problem?

It is Christmas. Many people are off work, and the kids are home from school, plus there are many new devices that people got for Christmas that are being activated, and downloading updates and just plain downloading, along with the usual large file downloads that the gamers are doing during the LNFZ. This will be less noticeable in a week or two. Exede is not trying to force anyone into new plans, it is just the normal end of year congestion, although it appears to be a bit worse this year, with too many new gadgets people are getting for Christmas.

Last year the Christmas/New Year holidays were bad and stayed bad until school started back. I expect this year to be as bad or worse.

They wont switch you like that, if they take your FZ away which was part of your agreed plan at the start, they have to honor that till your contract is up or you cancel.
I would tend to agree with Steve that its just a traffic issue over the holidays. PeAcE

While slow downs are normal during the holidays, some of the FaceBook issues being reported can't really be attributed to the normal holiday rush. the distinguishing factor seems to e whether it's simply slow or just not working. For example on my beam its slow during peak periods but still functional. For others just not working.

A real issue last year at this time was drowned out by reports of simply slowing until those of us experiencing the real problem raised a ruckus and isolated our circumstances from the norm. See the following reply for some of the actions we took to get ViaSats attention focused on it rather than the normal white noise:

Another thing is people who have Windows 10 may be doing massive updates on LNFZ. My daughter's friend (they share same house) computer broke and she had to get new laptop with you guessed it--WINDOWS 10. She said downloads are massive. I don't know exactly how they get data but they only have like 6GB for the two of them and the updates taking most of it.

I have Windows 10, the original install/upgrade was 3.3 Gb, and I have had 2 updates since, each in the neighborhood of 256 Mb. A lot of the data usage that people using Windows 10 come from those live tiles, which I have turned off almost all of them. The news and weather feeds are updating constantly, even though most people only look at them a few times a day, if that. I am very happy with Windows 10, and on the Liberty 10 plan I don't have to worry about using my data like I did on the Classic plan.

Thanks everyone! I did restart my router, that helped. I won't worry about it anymore and just wait it out till school starts again.
