The way I see it, that the "Champions" on this board are constantly harping the party line that any service provided by Viasat satisfies the company's contractual obligation is a major disservice to the image and profitability of the company.  Y'all are making Viasat look like an ogre, if ya ask me.  To portray the company as a dirty dealing, disingenuous, nasty entity simply because they can be benefits nobody as far as I can tell.  I'm guessing that it is company full of good people who know how to do the right thing.

Additionally, I can't imagine that any judge and jury would agree that any minimum service provided would be reasonable, and since Viasat apparently refuses to state a minimum then a court would be compelled to do so in any case brought before it.  I'm just guessing of course.

I'll venture a number just for the sake of conversation.  Given the overly complex and intense nature of most internet pages these days, the range around a 100 mb/s down or so is nearly useless.  In my experience the internet becomes usable in the range of 500 mb/s down or so.  So, for completely arbitrary reasons and purposes I'll establish for the sake of argument that any service below 500 mb/s constitutes contractual default by the internet service provider, and that it justifies any reasonable response by the customer to withhold payment and to extricate them self completely from the arrangement.

How on that?

Mary, you are free to do that, but you will find that Viasat will turn your overdue fees over to a collection agency.

This may result in your credit score to plummet.

Why is it that you don't wish to abide by the contract you agreed to when you went with Viasat?

I am only getting 635 pings, 8.47 Download & 1.04 Uploads.  This is not what I was promised when I signed up.  I was getting about 12 downloads and the girl who I spoke with said Viasat would give me much better speeds.

Lou,

Your latency (ping) is fairly normal for satellite internet.  Though you might see a little lower than that, it's not going to be by much.  You can't fight physics.  The four legs of the trip that your signal takes add up to around 90,000 miles, give or take some hundreds, depending on where you live.  That total trip takes nearly a half second.  The various equipment that your signal passes through adds a little time, as well.

Can't speak for your speeds, though.
