Device charging is currently supported ;)

But seriously if Viasat were smart they'd upgrade the firmware in a manner similar to that of NightShift (or partner with then) and offer a similar value added function using a monthly subscription - after all for Viasat it's all about the ARPU - actually there's still a hidden section on my modem's status page called Media Storage Device. Media Storage Device? Surely you jest, what's that? A device used to store media and don't call me Shirley.

There was some past speculation that the USB ports were to be used for onsite diagnostics.

I got excited a year ago when I saw the modem.. I asked "network storage"? "Support for a network printer"? Sadly, no.

One of the reasons why I will maintain an independent router.

Well I wasn't accusing Viasat of being smart... I did say if... letting the reader decide.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

It was a good game one everyone will remember but don't let that distract from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table.

That 1998 match was EPIC. Mankind (and he had two other personas) with 110% insane!

Don't let any of this distract you from the fact that...

Proprietary Viasat USB Aromatherapy Diffusers compatible with all modems are now available for lease at $5.99 per month (2 year commitment)... a fine selection of fragrance oils are available through your account portal. Can smell-o-vision be far behind with new HTML5 standards?

All of this may be true but don't be distracted by the fact that In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

We do not know at this time James. You can always add a 3rd party router on if you need USB

James, there was a lot of talk about 2 yrs ago, but it has since totally died down. The idea was for an ext hd to be connected which would allow you to download shows from Netflix, kinda like the way you can now with your smart device. However they were going to take it a step further and have the software "learn" your viewing habits.....it would then download suggested programs during off-peak hours. When you went to Netflix the next night, rather than adding to the traffic load, it would simply stream from the ext hd.....you'd never know the difference.

That is how my Nightshift works. Great product and works great. Unfortunately, not a big enough market for it so not really available anymore.

Nightshift was mentioned and there seemed to be a lot of hand-wringing about the legality of it. Just look at the legal hoops Vid Angel had to go through.

Nightshift and Playon work very similar. Nightshift just does it better.
