I am really getting annoyed at why the hell I cannot see my detailed DATA usage as already reached 10GB DATA CAP in 15 days.  I have locked down my router and see no unknowns the smartphones barely use the 2gb data cap on the 4G network per month and the wireless printer using nothing.  I have NetGear Genie and looked at the upload/download while 
playing games on Facebook and barely any usage on those.  We update the 
laptops and smartphone/tablet apps between 12-5AM is that not working 
correctly and taking away from our DATA???  If Hughesnet can track the 
data and give you details then why can't you?  I was at 70% usage a few 
days ago and poof all gone and I want to know where it is disappearing 
too!!!  Running Win7 and Win 8; netgear router with firmware updated and samsung galaxy phones and tablets and 1 wireless all in one printer!

My husband is an exede tech. We just had this problem cuz we just got our service and used 20 g in 24 hours and my husband was at work all day n I was gone too so not sure what happened. We upgraded to the biggest plan n same thing. Finally figured out if you use netflix go to account settings and make sure you click on a lower pixel. we adjusted that which was on auto n we set to low and didnt even use a whole g watching netflix for a few hrs today. I would try that if u use netflix that is a major issue you can easily fix. Cuz if u run HD on Netflix you use 3 g an hour!

We experienced the same thing after having no data usage problems for almost 2 years.  We went round and round with Exede without any resolution.  In the midst of all of that AT&T Uverse became available to us so we ended up doing that.  Shipped back our equipment yesterday.AT&T made it really easy.  You should look around for another provider.  We were limited because of our location.  Good luck to you.

They will tell you the exact same thing they told me.. it's a canned response. They act like they are looking at YOUR usage... but it's a canned response. No you cannot watch a youtube video.. no you cannot stream a movie (which I've never done EVER IN MY LIFE) no you cannot get on facebook... no you cannot get photos sent to your email nor email photos no matter how small kbs you resize those photos to. etc etc etc.. My data is gone in 15 days.. 15 days from my due date.. I am always buying more data. It ticks me off that people on here are watching videos, streaming T.V. thru various devices (stuff I don't even attempt)...don't even care about streaming TV .. but would like to watch the occasional youtube 2 or 3 minute vid clip.. but I know if I even do that I am done for for the rest of the month. It ticks me off that people compain they can't stream TV.. are you kidding me? I can't even email a photo...
  I think I have a bad sector of their satellite stream or something... but I can't get anyone to help with that issue.  I just had to buy another gig to be able to use gmail..

About the best they can do is provide a general, categorized breakdown of usage and determine whether there are any problems with your modem, gateway or Accelenet server.

The general, categorized breakdown only points you in the direction of the haystack not the needle itself. Most find it to be an insufficient explanation.

There are sufficient third-party monitoring applications that can provide the detail you seek (some are mentioned in the two links above) - anything beyond that general, categorized breakdown provided by ViaSat and everybody would be complaining about their privacy being violated. Those of us on limited satellite plans have to own our data and manage it.

And if all else fails they will flip you a few gigs making it sound like they really care to ease your pain a bit.

I had similar problems and strongly suspected there were technical problems with the Exede data metering. I downloaded Satellite Restriction Tracker (just google it) and sprang for the $15 per year 24/7 monitoring, which makes it easy to see if there was some unexpected jump in usage. In fact SRT provides a user configurable alert that pops up a warning window if it detects usage rate beyond your threshold. SRT gets its data directly from the official Exede user portal, which in turn reads a meter built into the Exede modem.  SRT can show your usage as a line or bar graph, making it easier to visualize your data use and spot jumps in your usage.  I just spotted a 500 MB jump in my usage last night  between 11:30 PM and 3:06 AM when I'm pretty sure that nothing was connected. Since I'm on Exede Evolution plan nothing was metered between 3AM and 8AM.

@kjboxers--That is weird your data is gone so fast. I have 10 gigs and I'm on Facebook, another social network that is graphic heavy, get local newspaper online,have Chrome browser and google email and friends send me YTube clips which I watch. If they are short ones. Not over 5 min. Do set settings at 4something. My data does last the month but getting close near end of month. I'm running Kaspersky internet security and win patrol.

I agree HMC1940  there must be something wrong with my equipment. Called exede again today after 7 months of slow speeds and running out of data.. same canned response (watching videos, facebook, blah blah blah).. I'm even disabling the connection every single time I walk away from the computer and still I'm over data.. This was not the case with Wildblue, but ever since the "so-called upgrade to Exede"  it's the case.. I was Wildblue since 2012.. then the "downgrade" to Exede in July 2014 and ever since then I am over data 15 days into the month. I've been thrown their bone of 5 gigs a month everytime I complain and call in.. but I'm told that bone is no longer going to be thrown. I will need to go the next gig plan UP.. well UP this..

It looks like  TH is running more than one computer Windows 7 and 8, a router more than one phone as in Phones, and more than one tablet as in tablets. Thats at least 7 devices I count and we are going to do this on how many gigs?   With one device I can pretty well stay on the computer. No netflix or games but all the e/mail pictures and face book one can handle. But with 7 devices na that is not going to work cheaply.

Hey kj, did you upgrade to Windows 8.1 since you were on WildBlue?  Win 8.x can be a real data hog if you leave all the active tiles enabled and logon with a Microsoft account instead of logging on as a local user.

Nope.. Have not left windows 7 home. Not going to do that heard to many horror stories.

My husband is a tech and actually installed our home last week with exede 8 days ago & within the first day it said we used the whole 20g's & we barely even were home to use the internet. We then upgraded our plan to the biggest one and its been 8 days & already says we've used half of our data which is 25 g out of 50g. My husband works all day for exede & is gone most of the day. I barely use internet or most times have even been shutting our router off if not using it & still it says we have used 25 g's within 8 day's of our new service. Wondering what's going on with the data usage.........

Same basic Problem. I am an Exede Installer, and was surprised to se I had used up 75% of My monthly data in 10 days. What really upset me, was calling in to the help center, and getting a /rep that was completely un interested, and rude, and they were having some soryt of party and the background noise was VERY distracting. Very unprofessional!
Obviously no help.
What is the first 30 day termination fee?

oh my gosh we have called every month for months and months, trying to get to the truth with this company. they constantly claim we have used all our data, even during periods when we are not home and there is no technology on site. they refuse to show us any real information on the data usage, and what little bit they have leaked makes it clear that they are claiming usage when it is impossible. we all need to band together and file a complaint with the regulatory agency. i have become convinced it is the only way to get anywhere with them...add to it the "non exede employees" that, if you look across multiple threads, are clearly 100% in league with exede. we need to help each other, as i don't believe exede is going to make any effort to begin providing honest service

Yes I have looked at ESVT. Doesn't really tell me much. I tried to discuss readings with the support people I spoke about previously, but I honestly don't think She had a clue. Very disappointing!
She told me to turn off all updates, turn off all android updates, etc. 
My wife uses Facebook, which I understood was not a huge impact.
My pie chart on ESVT shows a small segment on Social Media, and a huge segment ofUpload/Download activity. Can't seem to find out what that is though.
Getting pretty disappointed with this.
Had better service back when I had Hughes 7000 system.

My husband is a tech and has seen this happen alot depending on who did your install. If the coax cable isnt at least 20 feet long into you home from dish that may be an issue also running too much energy n causing your data issue. I would reauest a tech come out n see whats going on. We just changed our netflix settings to a low pixel and now we barely used any data today watching Netflix.

I have had the same problem with running out of data before my month was up & I never went over my data on any plan I was on with 2 other providers. This started the first month I changed to this co. I'm not a movie streamer or big you tube watcher either. I also lose my connection in the evening & it won't connect again right away. I can't wait until my contract is up.
