You just beat me VetSat. My VS1 just tested ( speedtest.net ) at .32 kbps dn and .27 kbps up.

I tried Fast.com and got 540 kbps dn on both VS1 and VS2. Yep, we're liv'in life in the fast lane now.

I thought you were in Tampa. One of my sons lives in Tampa and has super high speed cable internet. If correct, why are you on Viasat?

Also, I though you were a Viasat dealer/installer. Aren't you supposed to embellish Viasat's outstanding service and speed?

I live about 40 miles north of Panama City. At my store I have cable internet....here at the house there is no choice other than sat internet.

I am a Viasat Elite Dealer and install every system I sell....but I'm also a customer and I try to be as honest as possible with the products I sell. One of the reasons I was picked to be on the Dealer Advisory Council was because I tend to speak my mind BUT, I also try to bring solutions to the table as well.

Yep same here. On the Freedom plan and only 45% through my allowance and it's like dial up all night since about 6PM. It's absolutely worthless right now

I've only used 112gb of my 150gb limit on Silver 25 and still have 4 days remaining in billing cycle

I have used less than 50GB of my 150GB of priority.

I really think things went south with the "unlimited" plans offering 150GB priority.  Then they figured Viasat-2 would offload some subs along with coverage of the high-density spot beams.

Well that didn't go to plan.

Tough night in Inverness monitoring the network .

I've yet to use more than 90 G of my 150 each month, that has been over 4 or 5 months.
Speeds in the evening, 1.5 to 2, just did a speed test 32 Mbps(10:14 AM).  I use to get 3.4 or 3.5 on fast.com now if i get 1 i'm fortunate.  The last update 14.6 really put the screws to the streaming speed.

Once i went unlimited silver, and had to use the new Big Brother Modem, Viasat took control.
I really avoid doing much during prime time because of the "congestion" so all in all i work with what i've got, just as i did for several years on the 25 Classic with LNFZ.
But it sucks that what 90 percent of the country take for granted, do what and all they want when ever they want" and we have to plan and do our work arounds to do what is really becoming necessary functions.
To keep this somewhat balanced, Viasat is not stagnating, they are trying V2, not a total success.  Hopefully something is on the not to distant horizon.

It's trying to be kind and make you feel nostalgia for the days of dial-up.  Kind of like watching an old, favorite movie.   LOL.

Well that would be completely different. Now you are talking Sony when they tried to dominate with their own proprietary media format!

And then thete were laserdiscs, which was just DVD's the size of records.

Because of the size, and the fact you couldn't record, the laserdisc went the way of the betamax. Yet it had the best picture and sound!

It's obvious...  ViaSat exceed it's monthly data allotment on their source backhaul and now the entire system is in DAP on their end, until they pay for more GB's.

The problem with VS3 is that they have already established a track record of selling off huge percentages of the satellite's bandwidth to airlines and governments....who's to say that they won't do the same thing with VS3 once it goes online.

Well, I think at the very least, even if they move all commercial and military contracts onto VS3, since it is supposed to have a little bit over 3x the max bandwidth than VS2 was supposed to have (1000gbps vs 300gbps)  then it should free up a ton of space on VS1 and 2.  Thus, us on residential plans will have a better experience, originally I was hoping this'd be the case for VS2, but clearly that is no longer an option unless they can fix the antenna issue.  Basically, so long as they don't sell all of VS3 and then get more contracts and try to put them onto VS1 and 2, then residential users should have a far better than time right now.

Well....there is always Hughesnet. I don't think they are in the business of marketing to the military, corporate, and airlines.

Viasat just has to determine what their long term business model is. As Viasat-2 was planed, it definitely had a residential piece. That was evident. As Viasat-2 is working today...maybe not as much.

Though a sizable part of Echostar's (HughesNet's parent company) business is via contracts with the government, including the military, I think HughesNet itself is just civilian.  I'm not positive of that, though.

Gabe, I'm guessing that HughesNet/Ecostar = Exede/Viasat. Just Viasat dropped the multiple names and decided to just be themselves.

Same issue upstate NY low congest beam normally. Luckily I can teather from phone. Feel bad for people that don't have that option cause internet really isn't usable at these speeds.

Put Dish in for a customer last night and he had Viasat....had it since the Freedom (150 gig original unlimited). He mentioned that it barely worked so I used my MITE app to check the install numbers, everything was fine. Used my Network Multimeter app to do a speed test and it ran about .23-.29mbps. This was around 6pm. He had used 18 gigs of his 150.

That is just ridiculous. But I see that at times too.

We need an off the record dealer and champions conference to discuss what all is going on.

I will bring the moonshine. Bev will bring the vegetables.
