I an a disabled 60 yr old man. We are moving, and canceling our Exede service. After 3 yrs of paying $9.99 a month for a $ 150. modem, and dish, with a $150 receiver, Total "Lease Fee"of Over $300. I'm returning modem, no problem, but to make me climb a 2 story house, hang over edge to get a receiver, (that I'm sure won't be used again), or pay a tech $95.00 to get it down is ridiculous! Dish Network waved it's fee for me, for my 6 yrs of service with them, why can't you! Are you really that CHEAP, AND HEARTLESS? On a pleasant note, The customer rep who assisted me in canceling my service was a sweetheart!!

This is a wild guess on my part, but possibly the local installer who services your Exede account could possibly help you out regarding this?

I've seen instances in the past where exede waived the TRIA return due to it being mounted in an elevated position and the customer's inability to recover it.  Michael Taylor needs to request such a waiver.

Take a picture of your dish install showing the hazard of getting it down and include it in an email to  exedelistens@viasat.com

Explain your situation and ask how exede is going to handle the PR nightmare if you get hurt getting it when the news shows "elderly man dies recovering obsolete satellite antenna for exede". I say obsolete if you have one of the older, long TRIAs.  (New ones are a smaller box style).

I'm guessing they will tell you to just leave it there and waive the non-return fee.

Be sure to include your account number and contact information.

I am not disabled, and I would not go up there. It would be nice to have all installs on the ground.

should be able to since customers are allowed to "relocate" dish once per year at no cost? :P
