Joyce, have you use up all your data for the month? If so, this is why your speeds are so low.

yes I did,but that should not have cause me to be shut down everyday and every night at different times, I was not happy with it cause I would be in the middle of talking to family on here when it shut down and I could'nt get logged back on,cause it said no internet connection. I  just don't understand why it was doing that on me all month and it did it again last night. I have ran out of data n the past and never had it to shut me down  all the way until Dec. and the begining of this month Jan,.

Yep - but my guess is that I'd be unhappy with Hughes net too - satellite sucks plain and simple - I'd gladly pay more to have my Comcast back

Well, I have been with Hughes for several years with not many complaints except the same as everyone else. slow service, horrible customer service. but I have 50gb anytime and 50gb of bonus , after hours 2am - 6am data that I rarely use more than half of and I use youtube and internet a lot but not Netflix. I was considering moving to Exede and maybe getting a cheaper new subscriber deal but now I don't think I will right away. I am astonished at how many people are having problems with their data usage and using it all in a few days! I never have had that problem and do not wish to exchange my service for that possibility. Does Exede have a 30 trial period or anything like that?

Oh, and yes, satellite just completely sucks for streaming and more heavy usage but I live in a very rural area of North Mississippi and it's Hughes and now Exede, that's it. Just about 15 miles up the road you can get AT&T and other services that are just so much better, cheaper and lots of data. I would love to be able to cut DirecTV some more. My everything package was $120.00 when I signed up a few years ago but it went to over $210.000, especially when I added HD and all their little fees so I cut it down to a $79.00 package that is still going to be around $107.00 total with my HD service and fees. But I only have 3 stations that I can get with an antenna and they are over 60 miles away. I am on a fixed income and need to cut out some of these excess services and fees.

The core of the problem is that those of us with Excede have it because that is all that is available in our rural areas.  So while I am glad the company is in business, they have no competition, hence the lack of customer responsiveness.  Satellite service in a competitive market is fine, e.g. Direct TV which has great customer service.
